Warning: By-products of the combustion of propane and natural gas contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer or other reproductive harm.

Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly referred to as Proposition 65, requires the governor of California to publish a list of chemicals “known to the State to cause cancer or reproductive harm.” The list of chemicals has grown to over 900 since 1987. It also requires California business to warn the public of potential exposures to these chemicals which result from the products they use, make or distribute.

Rasmussen Gas Logs, Alterna, Solaire Infrared Grills and Bromic Gas Patio Heaters are all fueled by natural gas or liquid propane. Natural Gas or Liquid Propane are not listed Proposition 65 chemicals. The combustion of these fuels in appliances creates harmful chemicals including carbon monoxide, benzene, formaldehyde and soot – all chemicals known to the State to cause cancer and/or reproductive harm. The company encourages all of its customers to use natural gas and propane safely. You should read and follow all use and care instructions for our products. Proper ventilation and frequent inspection of appliances are highly recommended. If a gas odor is detected, contact your local gas company or a qualified service technician immediately.

Some of our products are supplied with sand, which naturally contains crystalline silica, a chemical “known to the State of California to cause cancer.”

When properly installed and used, Rasmussen believes its manufactured products such as Rasmussen Gas Logs, Alterna, and Solaire Infrared Grills, and distributed products such as Bromic Gas Patio Heaters, are safe.
